About
I am a multidisciplinary artist from Corpus Christi, Texas. Prior to earning my MFA at the University of Georgia, I graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with a BFA as well as a BA in Spanish. Initially a realistic figurative painter, my practice has expanded to include sound-based work, instruments, and interactive objects.
I play with electronics. I make sensational devices. I draw and paint idiosyncratic figures. I am interested in constructing small systems and objects that sit between function, humor, and imagination. My work often draws from a post-ironic sensibility, where sincerity and comedy coexist, and where nostalgia and familiar forms are reworked into something slightly strange or off-kilter. I create instruments and objects both for personal exploration and as a way of opening a dialogue with others, reflecting an interest in how meaning is shaped through play, use, and misinterpretation.
